I have come to the fountain of knowledge to drink in horsepower and performance truth. It is of mods and programs and all things duramax that I seek.

I am a traveling pipe welder with a basically stock 13 Duramax Chevy and I love my truck. The ride, the power and the utility is all I could want but could I ask for more? Yes of course; no ask no get. So in that Duramax gurus shed your light upon thee and make me whole!!!

2013 3500 Chevrolet dually.
I pull a 42' Redwood 5th wheel bunk house travel trailer weighing last pull 17680
I travel full time and have family, wife, boy (6) girl (3) with me.
We are a union pipe welding family.
I am interested in keeping my tow vehicle and daily driver running till the dinosaurs come back and every one of them is baptized. For serious. Even T-Rex.

Any info any one wants to pass along is appreciated. Please forgive dumb questions and if you'd rather not forgive please forget.

I have a cognito stage 4 level kit but it is yet to be installed. Gotta wear tires out first.

Also off topic I have a Honda Pioneer 1000-5 if any of y'all do that kinda stuff when not doing truck stuff.

Thanks for reading this whole bio,
Jeff

Start off with a lift pump for sure. A cp3 conversion will give you the longevity you seek as far as your fuel system goes. EFI live tuning will be necessary if you do a cp3 conversion and is an all around a good idea if you are towing and driving as much as you are. As far as performance goes..well that depends how deep your wallet is :thumb:

What are your goals, better mileage and reliability?

Welcome..

I have a 13 as well. Loved the truck till it broke the crank shaft. With you towing and traveling all the time I highly suggest that you get the crank pin kit empire sells and put the dowel pin in the crank. The pin gm uses to keep the damper in place is just ridiculous...

Stock is the most reliable when you mod an engine you decrease his longevity I'm new to the diesel trucks but I did a lot of drag racing and my engines got maybe twenty thousand miles on it the Duramax truck that went a million miles delivering campers across the u.s. was stock setup

True some modifications are needed to help but usually when you're trying to get great horsepower gains you are going to lose some longevity

I've had bad luck with my 13. It is all stock 115k miles and sits with the crank broke..sheared the pin holding the damper in place and spun the damper 1/4 on the crank. And I didn't catch it in time..
