Does anyone know what these marks are in the tops of the cylinders? Something I should be concerned about?

Also what do you suggest that I use to clean the block with? as I don't want to affect the new gaskets sealing

I am having the Heads Machined This afternoon. I'm putting some arp's back in it so is there anything I need to know about them? besides torquing etc. is there anything else I should do while the heads are gone? I'm this far into it so I'm going to do all new injector cups while at it or can I use the old one's and clean re seal them all? either way i want them all out and re sealed and new o-ring's etc. Also is there any way I can have the injectors tested to see if any need to be replaced? Any other information from you guys would be MUCH appreciated.

Thank you all!

Wow. Nice truck. Dual alts, too. Amazing how many parts you have to pull to tear one of these motors down, isnt it? The bed of my truck looks very similar to yours.

Yes, have the injectors tested while they are out. It would suck if one were to "fail" soon after you get it back together. I would contact TrentNell and ask him what shop he recommends to do that, as he is local to you. Smart man to reseal the cups, too.

I keep reading that guys are blocksanding the engine surface with 1000 grit. Would have to get some confirmation on that, though.

The spots at the top are hardening spots-normal
Yes have then tested.
As far as cleaning I use a 90* die grinder with a scotchbrite 3" pad used for aluminum-cleans very well but wont scratch the block at all-Harbor freight has them cheap and they also have the pads. After everything is clean use some alcohol or laquer thinner to clean the surface of the heads and block then let it dry before assembly.

Thanks for all the input guys! Does anyone else have suggestions for cleaning the block deck? I just want to see what my options are. And thank you all for your compliments It makes me feel better about my first truck purchase:D

And does an lbz reg plug right in? What do those run roughly? Injector nozzles? How much are those?

From my research, these are good for cleaning the surfaces. I used white ones on the 3100 that I did top end work on and it hasn't had any issues. I plan on using them on my DMax as well.
