Curtis at DPR and Steve Cole at TTS also do head porting/work. Guy and Tts use single valve springs on their heads and Dpr uses dual valve springs. anybody know which spring setup is better?

The weight of the single may be a little less than the doubles but not sure if they are as good. Any high hp or higher reving gas motor always uses doulbles and sometimes triples. In the diesel case it mainly to keep valves closed because of high boost situations.

Dual valve springs weigh more than singles. The greater the weight or mass of the valve train the more pressure you need to control it. The spring moves up and down just like the valve.

As an FYI, in the beginning I started with doubles. I then designed a single spring out of oval wire that has the same pressure as the duals but has significantly less mass.

9000-13,000 rpm bikes (even ones with bigger valves than Dmaxes) run singles, as do the LSx engines (V8, 6800rpm redline, huge valves).

I've run singles at 5250rpm in a Dmax, and 7800rpm in an LS6 engine with no problems related to valvetrain.
