Info: head gasket ?

Did gm change the head gaskets, i just picked up some from the dealer, lefts were the normal gasket #98045060, the rights were a bronz color, built different then the others, #12637788. partsg guy said they changed numbers, but theres more changed then just the numbers.....

Those are the new ones. They look nice and shiny:thumb: I looked at both and could not find a difference except the appearance and that the black stuff is not all over the HG

only different i see that concerns me is the sealing area the new ones kinda remind me of the comettic gaskets........commetic gaskets dont work!

;) at your self skippy, they have not worked on the dmax, for my self or many of the top builders out there....do some research

X2, stock is the best for the DMax. We ran these new ones on the dyno two weeks ago and they held up fine and looked good so we'll see how they hold up over time.

Is there a price difference from the old to the new ones.

Yes..a lil better, I get a good price from my dealer so i wont post numbers

the 'old' gaskets are NLA. The old gasket part number supercedes to the new gasket, which is a factory-LML part.

So basically GM just says use the "newest" (LML) gaskets on everything now.

i may be in the wrong place, but i am tryin to find out info on r&r on head gaskets, more of a step by step process, i`m hoping to prevent a lot of frustration, and any tips would be greatly appriciated, also what or why would there be 3 diff head gaskets, and the whys of headbolts or studds. thx
