Found my truck leaking coolant. Traced it to what looks like maybe a head gasket. What do you guys think? I snapped a few pictures.

It's running between bell housing and up pipe. Is not coming from the valley.

Sure it's not a valley leak dripping down?if so looks like a gasket issue as there's not much else that can leak up there. Its s pita tracking these leaks sometimes but hope it'd sn easy fix.

seen this a lot of times one of the coolant lines to the turbo will leak and drip down and off the head gasket.

It's so hard to see anything in there. The pan in the valley looks dry but there could be coolant under that pan. The leak is very slow. I may have to take some of the intake out and see if I can see any leaks from the turbo. I hope it's not a head gasket but if it is I'm gonna do it all.

Coolant runs through the rear engine cover as well. 1 square opening on each side . kind of where you're saying the coolant is coming from. Just a thoght

look at the upper coolant hose for leaks to the valley, turbo coolant hoses, and last is around the heads. its more than likely a turbo line but if your HG have never been touched, the 01-02s are known to leak coolant some times. so the possibility of HG is there

Really? This I did not know. Do these have freeze plugs on the back? I don't think it's old enough to be rusted through and I know it's had enough coolant.

I checked the Torqs bolts on the side and the rubber hoses that connect to them. Not leaking. I'm not sure if the head gaskets have been touched I know the injectors have. I noticed last night when looking it runs down both sides of the bell housing. Just the driver side more. It has to be coming from the valley.......somewhere

so far what I have seen with head gaskets it start it up cold with the cap off and let it idle and watch the coolant level for several minutes and see if it starts to rise and then burb a pocket of gas out. everyone I have done has done this especially if yours is bad enough to be leaking externally.

you need to pressurize the system and start looking for leaks in the valley. only things running through there with coolant are the lines for the turbo and your upper rad hose that runs back and over it. i would start pulling things out of the way to start looking down deep in there to find the source while its pressurized.

I have pressurized the system and still couldn't find it. I am going to take some stuff out of the valley and pressurize it again. Haven't had time this week. It will have to wait until next week I'm off 5 days.
