I am new here and not sure where I should post. I am having a problem with 2012 2500 hd not starting up . It seems like it had ran out of fuel and would not start. I could pump up the fuel it would start slow run a few minutes and then run out of fuel again. Then out of nowhere it started up agian with no help but is turning over longer than it was before the problem had started. Where could i find some tech help with fuel pickup problem?

A 2012, if reasonably stock, should still be under warranty, right? If you can, make the dealer deal with it

What all is done to the truck? We need to know what mods there are, as that can affect the diagnosis.

The truck is not under warranty it has 150 th on it. I know the truck well bought it new and have only had one problem with deff tank and a crank sensor. The deff tank somehow formed a hole in it and caused it to message bad or unclean deff. The truck is bone stock. How this problem started was i went to pull off from a stop sign and felt a small hesitation ran fine after that untill the next stop. At this stop it did the samething hesitated just as it sifted agian ran fine at 65 mph untill the 3rd stop. When i started to take off it ran just enuff to roll out in to the road and shut off. When tried to start it up it turned over really fast like it had no fuel to compress. Got it off raod and pumped the fuel up at the filter and the truck started back up. Figured i had a bad fuel filter it just happened sudden to have been filter problem. Took back out 5 miles or so down the road samething missed at pull off and shut off. Agian pump it up started slow but would start. If you pumped it up it would start but if you turned the key off it would not start back up untill you primed again. But it would get you a few miles before it would run out of fuel agian. Sent after the truck sent to a local macanic went back a week later he said it haa started up and running. but i do not know what fixed it. He installed a new fuel filter and said the truck has no codes at all. He said he unpluged the wiring harness going into the fire wall pluged it back in and bam it started up. Ran it up to parts house picked up a filter installed it . Drove it rest of day and said i think it is fixed but dont know what the problem was. After i picked it up i have seen that the truck is slow at starting up few extra seconds than before the problem. I feel it is still going to be a problem soon and seeing if i could find a little help. I am not a gm macanic but i do own a fleet of machines that are diesel power so have had a little time over a diesel engine looking to see if i can maybe fix it my self. I dont realy want to leave the truck agian for week just to hear dont know but it is running. It did not get the 150 on it setting in the shop i use this truck daily to run my company. Thanks for any help.

Really need to put a fuel supply vacuum gauge on it. During cranking/idle you should only see about 1-3" of vacuum. Anymore and you have a restriction somewhere between the cp4 and the tank. Sounds like possible fuel filter housing failure. Does it change with the fuel level? I.e. is the problem worse when at or below 1/4 tank?

Have not seen any change with fuel level. I have only had the truck back a few days i will try to watch and see if the fuel level changes start time. I will try to find a gauge to check the vacuum.
