Kinda curious about how easy/hard or worth it is to find a company that does hauling and start moonlighting towing stuff. And then, how do you even find stuff like this?

Figured the truck could at least pay for itself, but not sure if the money doing it as a employee is worth it?

Just kinda curious bout it, and figured you guys were the ones to ask. :thumb:

My dad used to tow all sorts of stuff with his 6.5idi dually in the 90's. he had a couple different trailers. Would haul cars, junk, had a gig where he would move people's stuff, local moves, but then he had to actually physically move their shit:roflmao: but would charge more if he had to walk more than 100' with it. The coolest Gig he had was a contract with the U.S military, yeah, the military, I don't remember what part, where he got it or how, cuz the Internet was barely founded then, if even, but he would haul old decommissioned helicopters from any given base to the army junk yard or the/a museum. It was a cool gig fer sure, his favorite to date. Sadly, they pretty much took his idea/setup and copied it, and no longer needed his services after about 18mo.

The job title that I think you may be looking for is called "HOT SHOT" hauling/towing. It's not all that hard to get involved in, insurance will be the biggest difficulty, then marketing will be the next difficulty. I know a guy who hot shots cars, I can give you his contact info if you'd like.

Go to youship.com I think it is and bid on items to be shiped. You can map out a route picking up and droping off over a weekend and make a pretty good hustle. I have to go from NC to Texas in July and I'm thinking about giving it a try. I've got on and experimented and could probably make a couple thousand going and coming it would just take an extra day of travel each way. I'd have to go off course here and there but I think it would be well worth the money.

So for the Uship site, do I need to be a legit business, or can I just bid, and show up with trailer?

I dont know, I just assumed you would have to have liability ins to cover the cargo. I may try to regester when I get a few minutes and see what is required.
