Help! Hey guys, brand new to the forum. So I’ve had this truck since July and it’s been in my shop more than it’s been on the road. 3 days after buying it, I had to rebuild the filter head because it lost prime. Oh, and this is my first dmax. It Ran for a month then hard starting when hot. Tore it down, had 6 factory injectors and 2 bosch remans. After testing, I had one bad factory. Debated replacing factories but at this point had learned too much about the lb7 and decided I wanted to go with the LBZ. I planned on selling the truck after I got it put back together. Put it back together and BAM! It ran for 4 days, and then nothing. Checked rail pressure when cranking and only had 900 psi. I was fed up at this point and decided to throw parts. Just wasn’t feeling up to trying to find fittings for the return ports in the heads and check return rates. Plus was banking on injectors not being the issue since they only ran 4 days. Threw a cp3 at it and fired first try. Now here I am a week later (after running perfectly) with hard or no start when hot. I just wanted to get rid of this thing. I am almost positive it’s another injector but I haven’t worked myself up to checking the return rates. I am a little weary of bending the steel return lines back away from the head to get the fittings in. So if anyone has any advice on what direction to go, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, can the high pressure relief valve in the block assembly be intermittent or is it just go or no go? Thanks Gents

I pulled them out and sent them to Jim at Bakers Diesel in Ogden and had him bench test them. He checked flow and return rates. The bad factory one wouldn't even let the test start.

You def did it the right way by sending them off... How bad off were the other ones?

Also btw welcome to DD and you might want to change in your sig from lmm mani to LML mani... Cause if you replaced it with the lmm mani you did nothing :roflmao:

Was the cp3 brand new with regulator or did you put the original one in it as you put in the cp3? Those regulators can be a nightmare depending on how bad they are.

Hey thanks TLyons! I cant remember the numbers exactly, I have them written down in my tool box at work. They were middle of the road.
BobbyB, yes the cp3 was a bosch reman with new fpr already in it.
Robs, ya Im thinking the same thing. Im sure a spring gave up on life in one of the originals. Thank you guys for all your responses. Ill keep you posted.

Has anyone ever pulled the banjo bolt and bent the steel return line out of the way to measure the fuel coming out of the return lines? How much of a pain is that? And I've been told 20ml is the most I want from the returns, is this true?
