Howdy, Just finished up zipping the valve body and pan back together. I believe i did everything right, but i did reuse my atf because it has plenty of life left. So i saved every drip and refilled it, the fill level on the dipstick was out of wack and when i started it, it idles for a second than starts loping really hard. I have no idea how transmission work creates a lope. no codes thrown. would really love to get driving soon too! thanks in advance. I have an 09 lmm with no fuel mods, do have efi live and most other basic bolt ons

Regardless of saving the fluid you drain, you loose between 2-3qts with the VB out and splitting it. With a standard pan it takes between 11.5-12qts to full properly after a transgo jr. So make sure your fluid is at the bottom of the hot hash mark.

How much money do you think you saved at this point?
Sorry, I forgot Allisons are easy.

@Mike L. What did i do wrong? youve now given me two vague replies talking like i trashed the tranny?

How in the hell would I know what you did wrong? Trans isn't going to make an engine lope. You touched something you shouldn't have and now you have a problem.
Starting to see too many posts like yours and what really pisses me off is; you idiots are proud that you screwed the pooch your self. You say you are learning and it's ok to make a mistake.
Now you come in here thinking we have a magic wand that will fix everything. We don't.
If you could tell us what you did, ( and you can't cause you don't know WTF you did and we weren't there to see the screw up ) we could possibly help.

Now, go back and retrace your steps one by one and leave nothing out ( including a fart ) and let's see if we can't get you out of this.

Ok, i apologize for looking for insight? I'm not looking for exact answers, but possibilities as to what could have happened would be great. I mean what could i have touched? I honestly have no idea and thats why im here looking for suggestions.

You just pm'd me that you could not get it out of park and your linkage was not working.
You should have posted this. You can not ask for help and get it without telling us everything.
Your problem is you missed the Z slot in the linkage. Look at the manual control valve which is the only thing in the valve body you can move. That valve has a pin sticking out of the side. That pin must fit into the side linkage plate that has a cut out kinda like a Z. Stick the pin in that slot, doesn't matter where as will find home all by it self.
Try it.

I read your deleted post. I love it. Nuff said.:thumb:

Fart..

Now I remember what I did, continue on...:woott:

Dirtydieseldan, you have more balls than I do, I bought a complete core Allison 6 speed off cragslist to take apart ($100.00). After taking the transmission apart including the valve body I decided against it.

About that time a local shop (CopperHead Diesel) was looking for a six speed case and had answered my for sale post here, I traded him some of the parts to install my transgo with the Mike L springs in exchange and been driving it since. The last valve body I had apart was 30 years ago to install a B&M shift kit, hope you have it fixed tomorrow....

Resolved! Mike L with the assist. Pin wasn't reinstalled correctly. Fixed both the lope and the shifter, so it remains a mystery why it made my truck lope. Atleast it's working!
