Hail damage gm/ford/dodge

One of the rigs we just moved out east got hammered by a wicked hail storm, all the vehicles on location had cracked windshields and dents. Some had broken tunnou covers, mirriors, etc.

I noticed the damage on different makes, gm/ford seemed to have a lot less damage on both hoods and winshields, the dodges on location received considerably more damage, and one Toyota looked like a machine gun got it...it had broken mirrors, window was concaved in, lights broke, dents everywhere.

Anybody know where or how these manufacturers produce body panels? Id be very interested to see why some faired better then others

Being in the auto body business I have noticed the body metal is a thicker gauge and better metal quality in gm trucks than the competition,Gm is just a stronger truck in general from my experience.

I drove a '14 Cummins the other week. While they made big improvements in ride with the coil sprung rear axle, I noticed the doors were very "tinney" sounding when shut. I figured the panels may be thinner.

When I was working in Brighton Colorado I got hit by a little hail storm in the company truck it was a Ford F-150 it took some hard hits but nothing major just a couple of dents in the roof..

RAMs are made out of tin cans. I've had 2 company trucks and they both dent if you breath on them (not really but you get the picture)
