Have you guys checked this stuff out? KGs gun kote. You can get it from Midway or Brownells. I did the matte dark earth on my M77 MkII .204 and it turned out pretty well. I also did my friends .40 cal M&P pistol slide the same color Ill see if I can get a picture. You bake it on at 300 degrees and its supposed to hold up decently.

I've got a stainless polished AR barrel I need to get done, and was thinking about this stuff, in FDE as well. But I've got a couple more things to buy to finish up that rifle, however all my funds are suspended until I buy another truck first. Looks good though Jordan.

I've been thinking about trying that stuff as opposed to Duracote. I watched the "how to" videos Brownells has and it looked like a little bit of a PITA to use. How was it for you??

Its not bad at all. Its just like any other paint application you just have to prep the crud out of it. Then I preheat the part to see if theres any oil that will leech out, and if so then clean it again. Preheat then apply, setting the paint in between coats with a heat gun. Then let it dry for an hr or so and bake it. I bake it higher than suggested and its holding up well. About 350 for an hr. Z79 I built an oven to do long guns because this stuff stinks too much for indoor use.

You built an oven just for this project or do you do side work? I've thought about buying an oven electric oven for the garage for powder coat projects, but they always seem to small.

It started just or this project. I used an old gun safe I had and took apart a toaster oven a friend gave me. The only costs were foil tape, solder, and $8 worth of insulation. It gets above 400 degrees. If you ever want yours done I'll do it for the cost of paint cos i owe you for my mudflaps
