I am old...er:rofl: and can't switch from near focus to far focus quickly, surely an issue when your doin' 70-80 mph, wanna look at guages and then re-focus back onto the road. I am going to cowl an HD hood roughly 3" and install the guages under the cowl so i can see them from the drivers seat. Cool huh!?

My solution is to remove my GMC hood and replace it with a 01-02 Chevy HD hood, fits perfect except for the headlight radius. This hood has a radius on the horizontal surface i can cut, section and cowl. The stock hood has an inverted? (lowered cowl?) kink i can't see a neat way to cowl it, we could simply install a pre-made cowl hood but looking through the windshield you wouldn't be able to see the guages, the wipers are in the way and the guages would only be 2 1/16th...to small.

Any way i thought i would share this and ASK anybody know ONE brand/face guage that is 2 5/8" have 2000 EGT, 100 lb boost, 30 lb fuel pressure, 100 fuel pressure (drive pressure), N2O... I think that's all i need? I have searched Auto Meter, speedhut, google, EBAY and companies on EBAY and no luck. We can change the face of the guage with fancy pictures and the like but not the function/markers.

Any comments or ideas?

i thought it would be tougher....

Sontines ju jus gotta peek up z phone...

Speedhut had so much you could modify i wondered if they could alter the numeric value, custom guages. Well, they can, and they did it for FREE. This can't be the standard cause Autometer almost laughed when i spoke to them about it a few days ago. They (Speedhut) say they won't do it for just one guage which is fair. Mind you i don't need a super accurate killer guage from a top shelf company.

I picked up a 0-2000 EGT, 0-100 LB BOOST, 0-100 DRIVE PRESSURE (that's EXACTLY what it'll say COOL:D), 0-30 LB FUEL PRESSURE, 0-2000 N2O BOTTLE PRESSURE. All matching...same font, black bezel, black face with white numbers, red needle and red glow. the font is white during daylight and when the headlights come on the font will turn red to match the needle.

RADNESS... Oh... And they'll have 'em to me end of next week.

i like your thinking James, but like you said you wouldnt be able to see them due to the wipers,i have often thought about doing this. simply because i allready have the hood

have you checked out autometer website, surely thay must have something bigger?

Yes on Autometer, they have 2 1/16" and 2 5/8" and MONSTER stuff. I could not find all the gauges i mentioned previously in matching faces or numerical values i needed.

I couldn't see the 2 1/16" over the wipers with a standard cowl, as you mentioned. I am sectioning the HD hood and adding 3" to it's height and cowling it, like an old SS hood with the little return/extension to the windshield.

I'll have the guages next week and the hood should be close in about 2 weeks +/-. The bodyman is giving me a deal to section and cowl it so i can't push him to hard...

Sorry for the redundancy, I'll get the pict's up when the guages arrive.

Did you by any chance ever look into the type of digital gauges that through a reflection up on the wind shield like the Corvettes do? That would have also been a nifty way to solve your focus issue. I know TSPerformance (please no one shoot me for mentioning them, they have a few nifty items. :p) makes one. You maybe could have had one custom programmed to encompass all the gauges you were wanting and they would have possibly even had memory recall and such since they are digital.

Oh well, this'll be sweet too. :D Definately gonna have a hotrod flare to it! Sweet!

We looked at "HUD" heads up display... dude (respectfully) very serious money... VERY trick though. As well there was concern regarding the angle of the windshield, apparently it's relevant to function of the HUD.

Agreed, that would be the sh*t. This is gonna be trick, a casual passer-by shouldn't be able to see them either becuase my Wifey will put an "AR" anti reflective coating on the dials.
