I pulled my intake off the other day and checked the end play on my GT4202r
When I pulled shaft in and out you can hear it making a clunking noise, I know this is not normal. Now my question is should I do the rebuild on center section thru Garrett or go and get another turbo. This turbo is on my sled puller so it gets ran about 6 times a month.

It is my understanding that the ball bearing turbos can't be rebuilt. You must buy a new CHRA which is almost as much as a complete turbo.

Thats what I was thinking. I know I had my 4094r rebuilt thru garrett and it was around $650 for a new center section. Im thinking maybe a s480 or s485, or maybe getting a precision

Talk to Gillette Diesel in Bluffdale, Utah. I was told by several certified Garrett shops that I needed to replace the center section due to a bent fin. I called Gillette was told they can balance BB turbo and for 400$ labor included I could get a new wheel.
