trying to decided between the GT3788r kit which is they claim is good for 370+ hp over stock OR the Danville performance billet 2.5 IHI which they say is good for 600-650hp.

the motor is a stock bottom end that i have C grade gaskets and studs in currently. for injectors i have 45% over exenergy's with SAC tips and an HSP 3" y-bridge, PPE up pipes & manifolds(non EGR) STOCK trans till i get the motor back in it and to Mike L over at Inglewood trans.

trying not to completely blow the motor up in it but want to get the most out of the stock bottom end as i can. ive been leaning more towards the GT kit for possibly a twin down the road after i push the stocker motor past its limit and sack up and let Lorenzo over at SoCal diesel build the motor for me.

truck is a CC/LB 2wd :thumb:

I'd do the ihi personally just because it's a drop in and it'll have enough to bend rods

Have no complaints with my GT3788r. The lowest egt's the truck has seen its whole life when running tunes that mostly utilize it and not the large charger. Both would work well in my opinion just depends on your future goals. The IHI gives you a built in wastegate.

Can you tell me more about it and your experience with it so far? I've been having a hard time finding write ups on this kit and turbo for an Lb7 specifically and just want to here it from someone who's been running it. Yes I would most likely be putting twins or compounds on it down the road.

I spent some time researching before I went with it. Seems like it was popular with a lot of the factory drop in LLY kits that replaced the VVT. Being at a mile in elevation I absolutely love it! The truck drives just like stock. I'm running the smallest .89ar turbine housing so it lights off very fast. It has the spool lag of about a stock-tuned LB7/LLY, with 10psi of boost coming on around 1600-1700rpms. Drive pressure is about 1:1.25 through most of the rpm range. With the gate locked down I was getting about 40-45psi of boost out of the GT which was about maxed out according to the turbo speed sensor gauge. A little bit of that was coming from the large charger of course.

With my 88mm feeding it I've still managed 920hp. The large charger is a bit worn out and on the laggy side but it was a setup I wanted to try out. I bet the GT would be a mean hitting single turbo. If you decide to run the small housing you will definitely need an external gate, and to probably tune out some fuel down low to help keep down the rod bending torque numbers.

I was going to go with the .89ar also for a good all around range. Was going to run it as a single for awhile. Thanks for all the info and input you've given it helps a lot! I have a buddy who's on here who does EFI live ( duramaxnate)
