Upon waking motorhome with C5500 chassis/LLY engine in Feb 2012 after 4 mo sleep, the glow plug control module and/or intake air heater failed during three days following wake-up engine start, and took batteries to zero volts. replaced both GPCM and IAH to tune of $300.
last week, woke up motorhome, GPCM stepped the heater normally through first 5 minutes as it did in 2013. But 3 days later when ready to go camping, engine batteries at zero volts. GPCM has failed again (14v at IAH with engine hot and running for an hour).
Don't believe in coincidences, so wondering if anybody else experienced multiple failures of GPCM/IAH, especially if vehicle not run for about 4 months of winter, but then fails the components on start-up (both GPCM and IAH solid state electronics in fully potted boards)????
