Truck in signature.

It's my daily driver with 200k miles. I left work on got on the interstate and just as I merged into traffic something started making a noise which is similar to if you were dragging a stick or piece of plastic down the road, like it would sound dragging it on asphalt. So I slowed down and made it to the next exit and pulled off and crawled under and there's nothing dragging and nothing looked busted/broken and leaking. I got back in and took back roads back to work and got my Jeep. The noise is gone sitting still and gets progressively worse the faster you go. No vibrations or anything though. Almost sounds like rapidly popping popcorn coming from the front of the truck. I'm lost, I guess I need to jack it up and see if I can feel anything loose?

I bet you will find a pin-hold in your t-case and the case will be empty. If so, you most likely fried all the internals running it dry and need a new case or at least rebuild with new rear case and merchant pump rub fix.

Im sure its pump rub,1 of my moms service trucks that sees alot of hwy miles fell victom to this and it was bad we tossed it,i pulled out 1 of my spares and put a cheap pump rub kit in it,mine went bad 3 monthes before that and i havent busted that 1 open yet to see how bad it is but it may get trashed also.Good thing i had 2 spares

id look for the pump rub hole, check all u-joints, lift the front end and check wheel bearings, and make sure no cv shaft has leaked all its grease out.
