An Aprilia 5.5 sxv that is;) Now I just need to lighten her up a little bit, all the extra non-essential crap is coming off, Plate mount, mirrors, directional's, horn, etc, etc..

Oh! man, have I been wanting to throw a leg over the 550. You need to give me all the details on that beast. That bike is gorgeous. :thumb:

these dual purpose bikes are sweet. wish I wouldn't look like an elephant riding a bicycle on one... I'm too big. Would look wrong. :( I do think they are cool though.:thumb:

Thanks man, I really don't know a whole lot about it yet. I seen one at a local Motard track about a year and a half ago and decided then I wanted one. I never raced super motard on a competitive level before but I used to race moto X for a lot of years. Hopefully I can get everything converted over into race form this winter and race at a couple local tracks this summer. It's kinda cool how they designed this mini V twin, its about the same weight as similar (JAP) single cylinders but puts down over 75hp to the rear wheel. Add that to the fact it only weighs around 250lb's and you got a strong running race bike out of the crate.

I wish but between running a buisness, my 2 year old boy and all my other hobbies theres just not enough time in the day:( I bought a 2010 CRF 450 a few months ago to start getting back into the motocross (Track) scene since the tracks are local and thats what I grew up doing. But now after Re-injuring my back again:mad: I am seriously considering looking more into supermoto and flat track racing;):)

I hear you on the injury thing. I'm done racing, at 35 you just don't heal so fast any more. I still like to go to the track and just ride. I just picked up a 07' rmz250 for 900 bucks, it's blown up but the price was right, besides I like to build them as much as riding them. I'll post some before and after pics.

I'm only 32 but I started having back problems at 20 when I herniated my first couple disks:( I am pretty much done racing aswell other then a GNCC race here and there or an occasional 30 & up class motocross race.. I just enjoy riding to much to give it up completly.. I just picked up a little PW50 for my 2 year old so hopefully I can start playing coach/mechanic in the near future:D Post up a pic of the RMZ I always liked the 250 four strokes in the woods and tight tracks....

Cool Bike custom!

Here I thought you bought an Obama doll

lmao

But why take off all those parts? Isn't the point of those so you can get it registered for on road use? What are you gonna do with it then, cause those dont look like dirt friendly tires

Nice Bike though :thumb:

They (Aprilia) just put all that junk on them so you can register them in the states. The SXV Is strictly a race bike, it does not like anything but wide open throttle, and the front wheel hanging in the air:D. Not to mention It only goes about 70 miles on a tank of fuel;) But to answer your question,, "what am I going to do with it" Simple, Ride Like I stole it on the street and hope not to get caught:thumb: Then if time allows and I can find some local open class supermoto races, I would love to do some track days... BTW, I still have the Harley to cruise on when the other 2 bikes beat me up enough;):D

A DRZ, XR 450 / 650, KLX,, etc,, Is what most would consider a dual purpose bike.. Maybe even a WRF or CRF-X but you cant usually get them registered street legal... The Aprilia's and Husqvarna 510's are pretty much in a league of there own.... JFYI :beer

I guess I didn't take any pics off the bike before I tore it apart, but you get the point from the pile of thrashed plastic. I was hoping that it just had a seized cylinder, partly right, cylinder seized & the cams seized. Cylinder shot & the head. I'll make it my winter project. Holy crap my garage is a mess.

yup, looks like you got a bit of a project on your hands:) I never rode the 250 RMZ but I have been on the 450 and it was a nice handling bike. I had a YZ 250F that I wished I kept at times. I used to always strip my motocross bikes down in the winter and go through everything and replace bearings/bushings, re-grease everything and then with a little polishing and some new plastic & Graphics you got a new bike come spring:thumb:
