:cool:So i went from 5 mph to 40 mph (speed limit on the road was 40 mph) I went to half throttle which casued my new turbo to spool and straight scream I blame Kat:Djk. Anyways douche bag cops said I could have gotten towed and arrested for Reckless Driving... they were 300 yrds behind me in traffic.

Long story short gave my dad a fix it ticket for "loud exhaust" and smoked tail lights.(btw the truck is registered under my parents name yet I have been the only one to ever drive it) so I was not issued a ticket nor instructed to sign the ticket to connect me in direct correlation with commiting the reckless act? I hate small town cops. Atleast he didn't check to see if I had a muffler or cat:D

I'm assuming I won't receive a ticket due to he never made me sign anything.......

ha, if you didnt slip the tires, and didnt go full throttle, then he doesnt have a leg to stand on. Reckless driving is very broad in the penal code, so it's almost impossible to get someone in on it.... He probably trying to remember exibition of acceleration-racing and just said reckless driving...Sounds like he has been picked on in the past.
Maybe you should have shown him what full throttle sounded like!;)

I got one a few weeks back while going to work. I've got a buddy who wants to race me every morning on the way to work 89 mustang GT. (Even though he never wins). I work out in the country, and the road to work is very straight and long. The car pulled up on my ass and could have changed my diff. oil while there. The car stayed there for aprox. 1 minute and attempted to nail the gas and do a flyby pass. as he got to my back drivers side window I nailed it and started to pull hard like always. I got about three car lengths, and the other car swerves back behind me and flipped the lights on (It was a damn CHP). I figured it was my buddy, because it was the same spot he catches up to me every day! It's dark when I go to work!!!

Ouch, i feel your pain! I had a cum-a-part on my @SS once for 5 miles. I made a few smoke puffs for him at 1st but no bite, so now hes pissing me off just riddin my bumper. At a red light i decided i had enough of him and stood on it! I had to make a quick lane change to get by a ricer and i was free of him. I was only on the throttle for a few seconds but i looked back and SOB, red and blue behind ( a long way behind, like 1/4 mile ) Long story short, i got screwed, 64 in a 35 const. zone(no sign says), wreckless, unsafe lane chance, failure to signal... I got a 90day restriction (ENDS TODAY:D) and it w/ lawyer fee cost me $2500, oh and i got to visit the jail for a few hours. Gotta watch out for the 5.0:hug:

No, you won't receive a ticket, but your dad could. I'm not sure how CA treats those kinds of tickets any more, but the ones I am familiar with require you to stop by in the near future to the local PD to prove the vehicle has been fixed. If that isn't done, then a ticket can be mailed out....

But the officer never made me sign anything? I have received a Fix It ticket before for no front license plate and he gave it to me on the spot? It was just a weird situation. Luckily I hadn't drank anything yet:D

But a ticket for "loud exhaust" how does that get corrected?

Gang, I'm going to let you in on a little secret..... Just given some of the comments here reagrding the PD, don't ask me how I know...... No, I am not currently a police officer.

Officers are expected to follow the proper rules of the road (no speeding, use proper turn signals, etc.) EXCEPT during emergency situations. So, trolling along looking for speeders, they should be following the rules. That being said, not all of them do. If you have rules against tailgating (following too close), then they have violated the law and you can beat the ticket (not always - depends on the judge and prosecutor). The other part of the equation.... as soon as the emergency lights go on, the dash cam video starts (officer can not prevent it from starting). Most may know this, but the camera packages also automatically record some time BEFORE the activation. It varies from system to system, but is it several seconds. You can get a full copy of all the video BEFORE your court date - make sure they give you the "extra" stuff from before the lights were activated. If the video shows the officer following too close, then you have some bargaining power.

The other tip.... always be polite and respectful. Even if the officer is being a dick. Nice manners often get you a warning instead of the ticket....

I agree with this 100% I was let out of a DUI, open container in the vehicle, and driving without a license(my buddy) for being honest.

Better mufflers..... Check what your rules are. What is the max decible level allowed at the distance specififed in the code? That is how they will check it later - with a decible meter at a certain distance away.

A "Fix It Ticket" really isn't a ticket. That's just what it is called. It is kind of a delayed ticket. If you correct the problem within a certain time, then it is like it never happened - no ticket. If it isn't fixed, then it becomes a ticket. You do not have to sign a ticket for it to be valid.

When a ticket is presented to you for your signature, you have a choice whether to sign it or not. If you refuse to sign it, an officer can arrest you and haul you off to jail. Technically, they can because you failed to sign your bond (that is basically what the ticket is - a bond to let you avoid going to jail). Practically, most officers will not arrest you for that (unless they are being a real dick and/or you are being equally bad) - too much paperwork & crap for such a minor violation. They will note on the ticket that you refused to sign. When the judge sees that....they tend to hammer you as hard as possible.
