mantua, oh
ok well i usually run efi live it has always ran good besides the bad throttle response and ocassional surging. well this weekend i switched to ppe and have ran the hot tune for a day and later that night my truck started idling eraticly and white smoking at idle. what does this sound like injectors, or is it the ppe or what? it was idling like it had a cam in it. it is at the dealer with a stock tune in it but i dont know if they will find anything not to mention maybe not cover it due to mods so please someone give me input.

White smoke and rough idle was a hole in piston #4 for me :(

Hopefully it's just injectors for you though.

could it be the injector plugs that sometimes get loose on those LLYs? I think it's numbers 2 and 7 that are most prone to the problem. The fix I think is called the "ice pick" and GM even has a repair kit for it as well. I'll get a link to a thread talking about fixing it over on DP...

I think it could be the tuning and your mods not getting along...............I've gotten white smoke and bad idling with tuning, changed it to something different and the smoke and bad idle went away.

I think he said he put it back to stock, and it was still smoking, unless I misunderstood.

I didn't notice before when you said you had a cam. Is it a higher than stock lift cam? Did you have the pistons clearanced? Maybe you had some slight valve contact with a piston? Just throwing ideas out here...
