How hard is it to change these? Code says it is the number 5 glow plug. I was just wondering how hard it is to change these out. Should I take it to the dealer or just do it myself? Any special tools needed?

Not hard there about 17 bucks at the most,Does the truck still have a warranty. Most the time talk to the service manager and get him to ticket number and let them give you the glow plug under warranty and do it yourself, if you dont want them working on it.

Truck has 42,000 miles on it, so I fall under that $100 deductible, I believe. How long do you think it should take me to change it Henry?

you say its glow plug 5 so you mean cylinder 5 right? So that just under the fuel filter so maybe 15 Min's if that long. I would undo the battery's and then pull plug on the glow plug controller.

That is what the code is telling me. I will have to get to this, sometime this weekend.

Went to the dealer and found out that the glow plugs are covered under Emissions Warranty for 50,000 miles. They also said that there was a bulletin out to have them all replaced, so I got it done for free. :D
