Got a dumb question for you guys.

Can anyone tell my if the tail housing on the Allison is made of aluminum? I know some of the stuff these days is magnesium and that it doesn't like being welded, so I would really like to know if the tail housing is aluminum before I start cutting a hole in it.

I've got to add a vss to the rear of my 4wd Allison and wanted to make sure.

Why would you put the VSS there? Put it on the output of the t-case where it belongs

And yes, I know you're running a 241/241. Don't worry about it - you will never ever need to shift out of 1st gear in double low range. Trust me - would I lie?

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have time to get the "bung" that I cut out of another tranny fitted up to the Ally tail-housing where it can be welded on with the proper gap set. I'm REALLY ready to test drive this turd!
