So i ordered 2 bottles of tequila UPS just delivered them and of course one is completely shattered... So now what I have to file and claim and wait 30 days? :mad::mad::mad: That is one reason I prefer FedEx over UPS I have had countless bottles delivered none have ever been delivered damaged from FedEx

Good luck with the UPS insurance claim:rolleyes: I have been waiting for over a month for them to send a ajuster out to inspect the damage and decide what they are going to do about it:(

Just curious, did you have it delivered because it was a screaming deal or was it some exotic blend that wasn't available locally.

Yep, good old UPS....4th straight week Ive had 55+ hours. :) OT is good this time of year.

Sorry to hear about your Takillya. Just save the packaging for the claim.

Yeah UPS is notorious for damage claims. On the other hand FedEx tries hard for damage reduction. This is coming from a FedEx employee...:thumb:

I hear ya. A friend of mine owns a winery in Maydelle Texas. When he first started it, it was just a Homebrew supply shop. But he started sending in bottles of wine from himself and his customers to National Wine Competitions. The first year he did it, he sent 26 bottles through UPS. Every one of them came up missing. Then they told him tuff luck, your not supposed to ship alcohol through us anyways. Needless to say. He no longer uses UPS.

If I new Tom was my delivery guy for UPS. I would use it all day long. He's a stand up guy.

Having worked for UPS myself I have to mention that FedEx, DHL etc. are no better. You need to pack the living hell out of anyting breakable if you expect it to make it in one piece and that is true for any shipping company not just UPS. Anything deemed "breakable" (glass, ceramics, electronics etc.) has to be packed correctly. That means that the item is wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a box with at least 2'' of peanut packing on all sides. Then that box goes into another box with at least 2'' of peanut packing on all sides between that box and the outside box. I have shipped native american pottery, glass etc. this way and have never had something break. I just shipped a Rolex this last week insured for $50K. People ship all kinds of ridiculous shit and think that if they throw a glass bottle in a box that it will make it without a problem. There is alot more to it than that.

The news did a special on shipping. FedEx and UPS did about the same on damage to the packaging on shipping.

The most surprising thing is that the Post Office actually had the least damage to the packaging and contents.

I think UPS needs to go to AA. Anyone who breaks a bottle of that stuff is definitely abusing the Alcohol.

Eh, damages happen. I wish everyone could see just how packages go down belts and conveyors in the hubs and centers, and see how they are packed in trailers. You never know what heavy object will be near your parcel, so you have to pack your items accordingly. I as a driver can only control what happens in my own vehicle....after that, we're all at the mercy of the system.

Shippers themselves are the #1 cause of damages thru the UPS system.

Once tracked a package through UPS that went right by me and about another 5 states in the wrong direction... finally it started back my way but the delivery date suddenly changed by several days :mad: shady....

Regardless, I have become friends with all the drivers... couple of them are really cool :thumb:

let me tell u i will never use ups if i have a choice every time i get my package looks like its been kicked down a set of stairs i ordered heads even my twin turbo kit thank got it was only the box with teh down pipe and cross over pipe but still i am so sick of there service i hate fed ex but when i need to ship something that the post office will handle i will have to use them

I've always had pretty good luck. I ship a lot and have only had 1 claim. Box was crushed and 3 cans of Fluid Film were lost. Most times when a box comes in roughed up it's obvious it wasn't packaged securely to begin with.

I like my Local UPS guy. But I hate UPS. Every package I get that has been shipped through them looks like it has been to hell and back at least once. I get stuff shipped fed-ex from all over the country and the boxes manage to show up square with most of the corners still holding there shape. Something UPS never seems to be able to accomplish.


UPS has screwed up the following things for me,

I shipped a Dmax crank to michigan in a heavy well built crate made of 2X8 lumber and screws.....It arrived in a tattered cardboard box damaged. Never did get any money even though it was insured for $600.

I bought 4 M&H slicks, and only 2 of them found there way here, ups's response in a nutshell, "tough sh*t".

Driveshafts shipped in a very heavy double walled box, that when the shaft arrived was sticking out the end of missing the u-joint caps. (That has happened twice)


Interior color matched paint that arrived with a busted off cap and no paint remaining in the can.


Lots of other stupid little things as well.



So far no issues from fed-ex or usps so far.:thumb:

A few weeks ago I ordered some plastic parts and they were nicely boxed. They were sent via USPS. Mailman showed up after working hours and all he had was my mail slot in my glass front door. Well he got the boxes deliverd right through the slot.:eek:
I think he had to step on the boxes so he could fold them and force them through the slot.:mad:
