I don't know what they are going for around you, but that price seems high to me, especially considering the mileage. But that may be where they are at now...

Other than that, it looks clean. Big thing I'd be interested in is if he ever limped the transmission. The Edge boxes are pretty good at preventing it, but at 200,000+ miles it might be getting weak.

IMHO it looks good on the outside, but as you can see from one of the pictures it was used as a tow vehicle. At 213,000 miles towing and using a chip and whatnot you have to wonder what kind of shape the transmission is in, hot hot did he run it with the tuner (my guess is probably fairly hot because he has smoke stacks with a decent deposit of black fromthe smoke), etc. No doubt about it the interior looks to be in good shape, but in one of the pictures there are lighters in the console cubbyholes...is it a smokers truck? Or what does the little red switch by the steering wheel do? I just had a buddy get 12000 on trade for his and it only had 15000k on it. I know it is exciting to be buying your first Dmax, but you have to try and look past the excitement while you are looking and make sure you ask the right questions, look at every little thing on the truck, and most important really pay attention on the test drive to how things feel. What are the shifts like? how does it sound at idle? Does it seem to be running strong? Are there any leaks under the vehicle or at any of the seals? At 17000 dollars you dont want to jump right in without thoroughly checking out the truck. If you dont know much about diesels, take someone with you that knows an adequate amount. I'm sorry if I was rambling on throughout this reply, but I know how stressful it was spending 6 months looking for mine a year and a half ago. Thank God youre going with a Duramax...I wish you the best of luck!!!

Thanks for the advice everyone. the guy thats selling it is actually a cop and he did tell me that he had his fun with it from time to time but wasnt abusive to the truck. As far as towing he said that the only thing he used it for was towing the trailer in the picture you referred to. He said he purchased the truck from a older guy who used it to travel with his wife hence the high miles he said when he bought the truck it had almost 190,000 miles already. From what he told me he did very well with the upkeep and has paperwork backing up anything he has had worked on. We will see if it is true what he told me tonight when i go to look at it. I believe him just for the fact that he was very upfront with me told me every little flaw the truck has since im driving 3 hours he said he wanted to make sure i knew everything so i wasnt disappointed when i got there.

TX of course
IMO he needs to come down a bit on the price especially with a questionable trans. I was looking at a similar truck not as loaded for 15K-17K and it had a build trans and a lot of addons and it only had 150K on it.

do you have any type of scan tool? Id check the balance rates on the injectors and look for any stored codes
