Well I was trying to fight it, but looks like I will be going to Okinawa Japan for 2 years. Kinda sucks, I am getting married on October 4th. She cant come to Japan with me. So my wife is going to stay here in Jacksonville, since I own a home here. She will take care of the dog and the house while I am gone. The guys at Diesel Addiction are taking care of my truck while I am gone, and a couple friends of mine are going to drive my car a couple times a month while I am gone. My command is not lifting a finger to help me get out of these orders either. They are basicly saying that if I dont play nice, they are not going to let me go on leave next week to go home and get married. Just one more $hit sammich I gotta eat before I retire. Oh, and I only have 2.5 years till I retire. Good thing is we will be able to save quite a bit of money before I retire, but I am not looking foward to being away from my wife for the first 2 years of our marrige! Ok, rant off.....sorry had to vent...

Sorry you're being split up Rob. I was in Yokosuka Japan for 2 years, loved it there but I was also single. Are they going to keep you there for the .5 years that you'll have left to retire?

Man that sucks! I was in port at Sasabo (sp) Japan for a week in 2000 and it was a week too looong. I did not like it there at all. At least you can save up some cabbage for retirement... good luck.
Will she at least be able to maybe come visit every once in a while? Do you go and stay an entire 2-yrs straight without a trip back to the states in there somewhere?

2 years with no R and R would be very ruff. I'm sorry to hear this man, but your marraige will be that much stronger whn you return. I know me and my girl are stronger now than ever. Best of luck man.
I did a 2 year tour in Okinawa and liked some things about it. All you can do is make the best of it and the time will go by faster. Candice will be able to fly out there and see him but even if you buy way in advance it will be around $1,000 for a plane ticket. He will get leave and be able to come home but only on his own dime.
