Well I'm off to stand before the judge today. Apparently 56km/h over the speed limit on a highway warrants a court appearance, even though a certain someone else can do 60 over in town and only get a $360 fine!!

Anyhow, wish me luck!!

If it all goes bad, does anyone know if there is a soapbox racing forum I can join when I lose my license??

Hmmm... Tell them you had a temporary laps of judgment that was positively reinforced by the presence and sternness of the officer that issued you the citation that you deserve and accept for which you have been caused to appear before his high and mighty. Add, You are a firm believer in the laws of the land that protect you as well as others from such possible disasters your act could have created that would have caused danger to the public. And say " I'm Sorry"

If that doesn't work, take the punishment. :rofl:a

Well I'm still driving. Got the speed reduced to 50 over and only had to pay a $350 fine and 5 points.

Better than a suspension!!!

You get a certain amount of demerit points, I think it's 15, can't remember for sure though. Every offence you lose a set amount of points. Once you reach 0 it's game over, I'm not sure for how long though.

Dale, what did you say that reduced the speed? Did you give them a speech and a line, or did you dance for them.

I sat down with the Crown Prosecutor and told him that to wrap it up quickly with less paperwork I'll plead guilty to a lesser charge. He said ok and dropped the speed.

It actually only ended up being 4 points too and they will be gone 2years after the guilty conviction.

No knee pads required. I think it was my stunning good looks and my heading to church haircut that really helped me out.
