7 runs at the Rent the Track event today. No good returns Im afraid. After a lot of brainstorming between runs, my best ended up being 12.29, worst was 12.59 (1st rd brackets -- lost -- on 12.38 dial ).

First six, no matter the ET (12.29-12.49), had mph of 109+, but last run (12.59) dropped to 108.5.

Logs show rail came back with the tune changes, but boost was wayyyy down. 1st run it was only 23lbs. After cranking down that Banks wastegate 5 turns, it would only max out at 29. Thats 4lbs less than I saw with the stocker. Not good.

Anyway, I think my goal of 11.99 has finally been put to rest. Im not going to beat the truck any more. Thanks everyone.

On a brighter note, Mike Moore went 11.18 @ 120+ mph today. :thumb:

I had a similar night a couple a months ago running 2 tenths slower & 1.5mph off previous runs, don't know what it was but really had me going nuts thinking about bad injectors, CP3, or worst case shortening rods.
Everything was back to normal last time out & ran best time

Wish i could have made it Tom! Those numbers are VERY good as far as i'm concerned! I'd love to be around there with my truck... just don't know i'll be within half a second of that though :( I'll be going with darius though the next time around! Hoping to put a trouncing on his Subaru after he tunes it ;) lol

13.35 @ 100.xx was Darius's best run of the day in the Subi! :thumb: All stock. Damn nice car he's got there, and he's only got 550 miles on it. .

AJ, Mike posted his time over at the Place in Ken's thread.

Thats sucks Tom as I figured you would be able to sneak into the 11's. You should put back some more fuel just to see if your boost numbers come back if your curious to see why it lost some. Being you had to adjust the gate in I would think thats the reason why. Either way thats one bad stock motored, stock turboed truck you have there! Goes to show if a guy does his home work and sets his truck up right, there alot to be had. Congrats on what you have done with it being its a crew cab which is alot harder to make go faster! :thumb:

On edit: Read where you think it might have been the adjustable gate in your other thread. Guess I owuld change that out too and see if your boost comes back first.

That's too bad. I always thought of your truck as my truck's fast cousin. Living vicariously and whatnot.

If it makes you feel any better, the fastest mine has gone is 15.7 @ 86 MPH. I didn't get the weight reduction memo.

By any standard, a crew cab turning a 12.29 is flat flying IMO. Especially for a stock turbo. And if you think your turbo is tired, I'll gladly trade you for mine (it's only got 270k on it!) :thumb: j/k

Let us know if you find out what was up with the boost.

No way Tom! No giving in now. Ups and downs are part of it. Drag racing needs hard working good people like you in it. Deep breath and back at it brother!:thumb:

Tom, did you drop the compression at all on your rebuild?

Trav, we cut the pistons down to roughly LBZ compression range. That was one point I really debated about before the rebuild.

The shift points worked fine. Trans shifted great. Jeff M and Darius told me that the truck didnt have the "dead spots" from my normal defuels bet shifts. Engine felt/sounded like it ran great.
The drag radials did their job as I have NEVER left the line at 2150rpm as smoothly as I did Sunday.
Truck weighed 6400lbs. Suspension setup was as usual.
Logs dont show anything out of the ordinary other than commanded pressure was 160 and actual was 145-150. Engine does have a lope that 2cycle isnt fixing, so the FPR may have given up.
But I think the biggest culprit was that damn wastegate. Boost followed rpm, didnt tail off between shifts like before, but woudnt go above 29psi no matter what we did. Jeff M told me that the smoke DID clear up after we turned it 5x to get boost up to that number, though. I have to run 32/33 in order for things to work right.

Jeff, we'll see. I dont have any time to go back this year.

I can leave the line at 2000 RPM in 2WD and not spin  but then again I suspect my torque converter hates me and/or has given up on life...

As far as daily driving, is there a downside to this? Or would you not do it again?

No downside to DD that I know of. I drive my truck most every day with no issue.
Cool, good to know. Thanks!

And I have to agree with camomax et al.: get the boost back up and give it another go! Even if it is next year. Of course that is easier for us to say when we aren't funding it all...

I havent looked at the videos my family took yet, but Jeff got this one. I thought I was going to run solo, as nobody was up in the lanes. Then Mike appears out of nowhere next to me. I mouthed, "Aw shit" and he just laughed. He always kicks my butt, but we have a good time.
Sooooo, I kinda kept up with him this time, and I'm thinking, "Hey, he runs 11.60s, I may have done it." Wrong-o. Didnt think he'd uncork an 11.29 on me, for gosh sakes.
