Just got done putting one of the farm trucks back together after doing headgaskets. (02 LB7 Fed emissions)

Turn the key on and smoke everywhere.

Look down and the rail for the glowplugs was touching the exhaust manifold. So i bent it back into shape so that it was not touching anything.

Turn it on again, and smoke everywhere. I had somebody else turn it on and I could see one section of the rail turn cherry red and begin to warp. The smoke was from the paint melting off. It is between the #6 and #8 injectors where it is glowing. I did replace the #6 injector and I replaced the rail because the oil rail was broke between the #6 and #8 injector before I started, and the #6 glowplug seperated when I went to remove the nut that holds the rail to it.

Ive double checked everything to make sure that it is hooked up right and it seems to be, I could be missing something, but ive never had this issue before and the wires only fit in one spot.

any ideas thanks.

Maybe pull the glow plug and ohm it out to see if there is a short in it.
