I wish I had the money for a built transmission. I keep limping it out of fifth. Currently not working. How hard is an Allison to build if I try myself?

2005 GMC 2500 afe intake, strait piped, arp head studs, tie rod sleeves, edge insite.

If you don't know what you're doing you'll end up paying twice.

Would not be doing it completely by myself. One of my brothers has done dodge transmissions and I know a builder I can call for help if I need.

It's not doing it yourself that you need to worry about as much as the so called "kit" you will buy. No kit will ever have all the correct thickness clutch packs and so on. The Allison is easy to assemble its getting it assembled with the correct tolerences that is hard and why you should save up and have a real pro do it.

Detune it, stay out of 5th when "on it", and start saving your money (if you havent already).
You could build it yourself, a few guys have. But its not something to take lightly.

Its free to turn the power down.

costs money to keep the power up.

If you cant afford to keep the power up I think you just figured out which way in power your going to go.

If you had to ask that question....you're likely not capable of a solid build yourself. Leave things like this to the pros and take it easy on your truck while you save your money. We're not being rude as it may seem, we're trying to be helpful and truthful with ya.
