Im cheap and really attached to my GMC so I hope it last me along time to rust yet, so it killed me to drive it last winter, I de-salted it 3 weeks ago, and plan on doing it 1 finally time this weekend, since I think the snow is done, but when I was peeling back the carpet so I could clean out the door sills I noticed the insulation was jsut soaked, so I left it peeled back and the door open all day to dry out, and at night I put a de-humidifier in there to trying wick the rest out. Anyone got any suggestions other than moving to Texas? Lol thats not an option for at least a few years.:D

Are you sure you dont have a water leak coming from somewhere? Maybe the old windshield seal problem?

Get some good mats like those WeatherTech ones. My carpet is ruined from salt/dirt/water as the stock mats are really just for looks.

You havent seen my carpets. 2 kids and my workboots have stained them beyond cleaning.

I seem to remember that GM sold crew cab carpets for a decent price.....I could always be different and "two-tone" the interior by installing black carpet.

Man do I remember this problem. I am originally from Wisconsin and moved to Texas, but that is not what you wanted to hear.

It is actually not that hard to pull the seats, lift the carpet and use a shop vac or bissel cleaning machine (not adding cleaning water) and sucking up some of the water and letting it air dry. Might be worth a try.

I pulled the carpet out of my old tahoe in about an hour. Use some cleaning solvent and scrubbed the hell out of it and then pressure washed it. let it sit out in the sun and dry out. reattach the the jute mat with some spray adhesive and reinstall. My carpet looked almost brand new and all i really had in it was time.

Lol, that nipple thing made me crack up too, must be cause its almost the weekend, no leak definetely from track in and out snow, I didnt have a garage this winter so that didnt help much, I definetely need to get those plastic floor mats that are like trays though Im thinking to combat this. But I'll put it back up this weekend and try to vacum it and let it air dry some more or somthing, Thanks guys.

Can you explain de-salting?

You guys have alot more salt and snow than us...maybe I can learn something to preserve my truck.

A car wash only gets so much of the salt and road grime out, from December to March the roads are white with salt, driving behind other vehicles kick up the salt and it gets every where. I dont know what other people do but on top of the normal wash in the spring twice, I de-salt my truck, every nook and cranny just rinse it and scrub what I can reach. Lift the door sill molding alot of salt gets in there, underneath the fender flares, behind the bumpers, inner fenders, bed supports, alot of crap gets in the front fender opening that you see when the door is open I just let the hose run for a minute or two in there, just try to rinse the under carriage everywhere as much as I can and reach under there with my other hand and try to get the water everywhere and scrub all the salt out with my hands. Pull all the door and cab seals and make sure to scrub all the salt out from underneath there also. Lots of work who knows how much good it does, but I sleep better at night.:D

As far as drying carpets and jude backing, lift it or pull it out and use a $10 box fan and keep air moving over it. That how we did it in the body shops that I worked in. Work good for me!!!

I get wet carpet along the door sills and up the floorboard under the dash on both sides when it rains or wash it good. Its had a windshield put in it before so i suspect that. The HVAC box drain is good and as said Both sides get wet, parked or driving. So before i dig into it, any other known water ingress problem areas known?

Thanks in advance:hug:
