Is there a way to get the stock tune back without the dealer? I bought the truck and it was tuned with a removeable tuner by the previous owner and i would like to get it back to stock so I can buy a tuner for towing. From research i did if i don't get it back to stock setting before i get a new tuner ,the new tuner will take the tune the truck has now as stock. Am i right?

You're going to need efi in order to do so. You can find stock flash/original os in tune libraries but you must be certain to flash the correct os, if it is incorrect you will find various components may not work such as 4wd or a/c.

Is there anyway to know which library it is by the vin# or any tell tale markings? Or will the dealer be able to tell right away?

What brand tuner was on it? Canned tuners have the ability to return your truck to stock...
Don't know. Thats the problem i am running into. Truck runs great but you get smoke alot when towing and i believe it has so much more power to go when towing but is not set right. Canned tuner?

You may be able to contact the dealer with your vin to get the correct original os number then go over to dp forum and download the correct os off their tune library and flash your truck which will make it stock. Canned tuners are known as basically anything but efi live. Changes are endless with efi where as a canned tuner you're stuck with what's loaded in it. Canned tuner would be like a bullydog power pup or like superchips, something along those lines. I would recommend having efi installed. Whoever tunes your truck will flash over whatever is in it now to what you want/prefer.

Okay thanks. I was thinking about the Edge Evolution for towing and it got good reviews. Being this is a canned tuner it has a stock factory setting for the truck? This is primarily going to be used for towing. I appreciate all the help.

The edge evo copies your current (stock for most but not for you) tune and saves it so that you can return to stock. If you plan on sticking with the evo then you could use it and just not ever turn it back to stock. I have one and am happy enough with it.
