So my 86 sbc pickup needs some love. Thinking of putting a turbo on it for something to do over the winter. Prob go with a blow through carb. Anyone know of a decent company that makes a kit or something to start with? They are all over ebay but don't know anything about the company's. Figured someone on this forum has messed with something like this?

yep!

I'm game. I just done some work on the guys truck that owns Bear Trax raceway. I was talking to him about a kart for Justin. He is a nice guy and really seems like he would help in getting him into racing. EVERYTHING I own is stock! lol

Doing an LQ4/4L80E swap in my 86 K10 with a turbo on it, LS swaps are a great way to get fuel injector and a much more capable motor then a SBC, I ahve a LS1 in my jeep and after doing that one i said I'll never do a carb motor again.

Cool. Im getting a set of scales/stand, toe alignment tools etc. so I can start scaling my own stuff. Going to get a bit more serious this year. Still debating to make a open kart out of a yz450f or a yz 250. I don't think I can swing that right now though.

That sounds bad ass! I basically have the same truck. Just thought it would be cool to say yea its got a turbo on it lol. I think i could get 300hp fairly easily with around $1,000 in it?

The ls motors are so fun to mess with o thought i would never touch one because the old SBC motors were so simple and proven but was I wrong.

The new ls motors have the same part changeability secrets the old SBC motors have its really quite fun to screw around with.

Pick youself up a 500$ 5.3 with harness at ECM from a wreck yard a set of Dirty dingo mounts and a fuel system and bolt it in. throw a turbo from CX racing (ifyou want a cheap setup) and make 600+ easy, injectors and tuning also but for what youll end up with it will have sooooo much more power and won't be radical at all. a real sleaper. now if you want a little better engine get a LQ4 and ahve the potential top make a 408 stroker and put a 4l80 behind it which can handle 700 easy, i gotta settle down i'm getting excited LMAO
