So the small spring that returns the gear shift lever to the forward position (closest to the dash) when you put it in park so that you can shut the ignition completely off broke. I now have to make sure and push the lever forward once in park so I can shut it off and get the key out. I called the dealer and according to the parts guy that spring is no longer available.

I went to ace hardware and got a few different springs to try, but there is almost no way of getting the spring in. It would be simple if I could get the lower part of the lever mechanism out. You can see what looks like a pin that's drove through it, but I couldn't get it out to save my life. I had to cut the spring down to install it, but by the time I did that it's too short.

Wtf do I do at this point. I messed with it for 2hrs last night with no luck.

I had my broken one out and new one in in ten minutes. Use a small needle nose to hold it and work it in there with a small screw driver.

Ok, where did you get the spring? Because my local dealer says they are obsolete.

I had one at work that was pretty close to the old one in size. Just trimmed it a little and worked it in

I took the broken one and cut the new one a bit longer and it works great now.
