So the small spring that returns the gear shift lever to the forward position (closest to the dash) when you put it in park so that you can shut the ignition completely off broke. I now have to make sure and push the lever forward once in park so I can shut it off and get the key out. I called the dealer and according to the parts guy that spring is no longer available.

I went to ace hardware and got a few different springs to try, but there is almost no way of getting the spring in. It would be simple if I could get the lower part of the lever mechanism out. You can see what looks like a pin that's drove through it, but I couldn't get it out to save my life. I had to cut the spring down to install it, but by the time I did that it's too short.

Anyone had this happen? If so how did you repair?

Thanks

Happens alot. Basically have to replace the whole assembly. You can get a spring in there, it won't be strong enough but it will work.

If you can't repair the assembly, if you want, I have the original one from my 04 that I swapped out when I swapped over to a LBZ/6-speed laying around somewhere.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind! What would you have to have out of it if I needed to go that route?

Make an offer. I honestly don't remember what they cost (it's been like 5+ years since I did the swap), and it's just laying around :).
