Just curious, lots of people say that with the head studs it has to be honed with a torque plate, is that right? So if that has to be done how do people get away with running studs with just the head removal? How many guys left the motor in the truck and added studs?
Only time i've heard of a torque plate being used in when installing main studs. I may be wrong, but i've never hard of anyone using one on head/block
Toque Plate is used for head studs
learn something new everyday. How do so many ppl get away with not using it then??
I'm sure quite a few people just stick the studs in and call it good, but it's common for the blocks to flex/distort with the new studs installed. iirc
I would like to see some machine shop that has a torque plate actualy test the "real difference between the bolts/studs with a dial bore gauge. But I doubt someone would ever take the time to do it and if they do I'm sure it will be kept quiet since thats extra machine work that could be charged for :thumb:.
There is a video on here that john boy did and npa dmax did Showing the distortion
