Anyone know of or have ran this turbo on a Duramax yet? Preferably as a small single....

Tossing around idea of upgrading my GT4088r while sending out injectors for testing.

Thanks!

Garrett will upgrade to GTX, but it isn't all that much cheaper than buying a complete new GTX turbo.

I'm partial to bb Garrett's....just want something bigger. Cost is too high. I'm looking into a billet 68/83/.90, 68/83/.10 or a 68/87/.90

On a stock motor with 45% injectors, also a daily driver not seeking max power, would an 83 turbine be better as opposed to 87?

Bw has a pretty bad ass new 369/74 or 77 (can't remember if they had a new larger turbine wheel) with 360 thrust bearing and a unreal lbs per min for a s300 turbo might be worth checking out

I've heard a little about these. Not much info out there yet.

At any rate, I wonder how a larger turbo 67-69mm will perform with my 1056 converter....

35" tires @ 3.73 gear ratio should raise stall from 2000 RPM.

Well Im not one of them, but my .02 FWIW
Theres different schools of thought on this and really you can go either way, having gone the "bigger turbo" over "bigger injector" first, I can say it wasn't nearly as satisfying until I coupled it with bigger injectors

So from my experience, I'd say P&P the stock turbo, and ad a BMW or maybe even add a larger billet wheel and work on getting a set of injectors first...then swap for a bigger turbo, then add a performance CP3(s) and if the little engine that could hasn't gone BOOM yet, wait with fingers crossed that you've got the money to build a new engine, cuz I'd image you'll soon need to at that point

My Reasoning:
A Bigger, badder turbo needs more fuel/energy to move the turbine quickly and efficiently and then sustain the compressor at high rpm, you're already significantly taxing the stock cp3/injectors running a built trans max effort tune...so adding a turbine/compressor with a larger mass that needs even more energy, isn't really doing you any favors

Don't get me wrong, you can do it turbo first, I did. Drove with a 4094 with stock fuel for quite a while...but once I got injectors it was a whole different rig, ran smoother and quieter, woke the turbo up off idle and all thru the map...it made me feel like I had wasted my to.e and money buying the turbo first...
