Hey guys i am building a new garage. I am wanting to know how tall of a door I am going to need. i haven't installed the lift yet. My current garage has about 93" of clearance. i will be running 11" of lift w/ 38" tires. anybody with this size of lift that has a garage i would really appreciate some feedback. If you guys kno how tall your truck is with a lift similar to mine i would really appreciate it. Thanks

I would think a 10 ft door would be plenty tall. In are old shed we used to put my friends mud truck in there on my axle below the bed gooseneck trailer and it was a lifted on 38's 55 chevy truck and we had alot of clearance with the 10 ft door. Another tip is get a 12 ft wide door instead of a 10 x 10, it makes backing trailers in a whole lot easier.

Measure the biggest truck you will be putting in there mirror to mirror, ground to onstar antenna.....

then add minimum of 12" above and 36" wider (per bay) unless its a wide door on a 2 car or something...:thumb:

No, I wish we had ANOTHER door in our shop that was smaller because running a 4 wheeler or snowmobile out a 25 foot door is slightly rediculous at 0*F. It only makes the heat bill higher than it has to be.

BTW if you haven't gotten the interior done, spray foam the walls even if it's just a light coat. It will seal up the garage a lot tighter. Cold days will be much warmer and hot days will be much cooler.:hello:

10' should be tall enough x2 on the spray foam It will cost a little more but you will be happier in the long run with it. If you happen to use it try to make sure they use closed cell foam, it will help prevent leaks and make the structure of your building stronger. Open cell is basiclly like a sponge and will soak up water closed cell will not. If you need any more info on this, this is what my parents do for a living so I might can help you out.

Yup, nobody every said a door was too tall. But I wouldn't build a garage for any particular vehicle, they change. Maybe someday you'll want to put a boat in there with a ski mast. Maybe a 5th wheel. Maybe an RV. If it's going to be a tall garage, I'd put in the tallest door that will clear. You don't have to open it all the way. I went 14' since the tallest normal vehicles are about 12.5' due to bridge and canopy clearance. Widest vehicles are about 100", so 12' wide gives enough for easy access with the widest vehicles.
