Have a truck on the lift with a g80 that is roached. It needs a new pinion and ring gear along with a. Carrier and total rebuild.

I have read so many mixed reviews on this that I don't know what way to go with it, anything stronger then what's in it will be good.

Opinions greatly appreciated

There are tons of options including an open diff. What do you use your truck for?

x2, comes down to what the truck is used for, type of terrain it sees and how much snow/ice

I'm actually mid truetrac install now, I'll let you know how I like it when I finish up. I've always been a fan of the torsen design :)

for a limited slip, its great for the DD/high mileage crowd. no clutches to wear out.

I threw a TrueTrac in mine this month. Haven't gotten it off road to see how it does, but it spins both tires on pavement for the first time in a long time. I'm hoping it does well off road too.

Truck sees snow, also sees alot of abuse. Burn outs, sled pulls, it's a daily driver though.

What's the difference from a truetrac and a tracrite? The tracrite is essentially a AAm "dodge " carrier correct?

I've had my truetrac for a couple years now; love love love it for my DD :) Great traction in the winter, nothing to wear out, no more spinning one tire all over the place, and my God does it let you drift that ass end around! LOL

How serious are you about pulling? IMO you need a locking diff if your serious, but I'm a little biases. I've never been a fan of limited slips and would run a spool if they didn't suck so much on our trucks.

Yes. The bias ratio is different, so the AAM isn't as aggressive. BUT the AAM tracrite is a good bit cheaper. I am running the Tracrite in mine, no complaints.

I want to drop an arb in the rear but the price is keeping me from pulling the trigger. I guess i also like the idea it stays locked in reverse... how much spin do you get before the trutrac or tracrite lockup? I mean if you guys are roasting tires with them then it gotta lock pretty quick. I do alot of sandy and sand/rocky with silty desert roads... anyone got any experience offroad out west?

What about a truetrac up front and a Detroit in the back? How would that do for DD and some towing. Some mud and lots of snow.

I was going to do arb front and rear but I'm not so sure now.

Curious about the arb as well. My truck isn't a DD, and it only pounds the pavement, starting to go to the track more often as well. Was even think about a grizzly locker.
