Got a P1081 today saying that the fuel temp sensor wasn't working. I checked to make sure it was still plugged in and checked the wires and all looked good. Went ahead and ordered a new one. Just wondering what would cause it to fail?

and was wondering since its my only form of transportation right now would It hurt to drive for a couple days until the part comes in?
