Hey guys, i know i dont post here much but i do read alot and havent seen much on this, i have noticed lately that my rail pressure seems to be lower then what i remember at idle, it is now hovering around 5000... some times heading down the road if i let off it will drop to damn near close to 3000, Is this an indicator of something more to come? the truck isnt being daily driven now but would like to act on something before destruction could occur.

I was thinking injectors may be going bad, i havent checked the balance rates in a month or so and they were pretty good. I was just looking for some insight maybe to prepare myself for something coming quicker then i want, I also do not believe the injectors have ever been changed since i bought it with just under 40K on it and i havent done them and with 130K on it i am fearing that is the culprit....

I Doubt its the injectors , tuning would be my first place to check and is more than likely the culprit , or the FPR is going out and may need to be replaced .

Thanks for the quick reply trent, i guess i kinda overlooked a bunch of simple things immediatly thinking the worse! but i will keep an eye on it it does flucuate as i drive it i mean i can let off once and it will stay around 7-8000psi then 3 minutes later let off and it is down close to 3000psi, I may pick up a FPR and change that out and hope it fixes my woes. i dont think it is an issue with the tuning either just becuase i didnt notice it doing it before and have had the tune in the truck for a few months.

It sounds like you may have some returning fuel. Log to see if it holds rail pressure under WOT and compare to previous logs if you have some. Does it set any codes particularly a 1094 code that keeps coming back?

Yeah i know just not showing signs of injectors though ya know, no white smoke at all, its just odd sometimes the truck starts up and hold 7-8Kpsi and then going down the road ill let off and it will stay there other times it just drops right to 3-5Kpsi, but no codes to speak of lately, i havent had one thrown since i went to just one big tune and not the dsp5 tunes.

craig i will give you a call later this week but work has been a bunch of long days that will be continuing through the first of next week.

thanks for the help guys hoping to find something out soon.
