Hi im new here....have owned an 01 hd that ive had for a yr now. truck is all original....never tampered with. 225k (kilometers..Im Canadian) It was used to tow a 5th wheel once a year thru the mountains. Anyway I know that two injectors are bad... they are all getting changed soon but I have a separate issue I believe. when the truck is running I cant get the prime to stay hard. Not sure if it should or not. Last fuel filter change I noticed the filter came out half full only. Im thinking I have a air leak in the lines? Not making oil.... or smoking yet..... but since Ive owned it it seems to not have any boost now compared to a yr ago.Checked the system with compressed air and seems to have no obvious air leaks there. Im thinking it isn't getting enough fuel. Any help appreciated.

It rattles some..specially under load. 2 and 5 I believe and had too much return. Did a closed loop cleaning with the gm cleaner. Helped some but its at the point the balance mode at idle cant makeup for the bad injectors anymore, causing it to shake more at idle.im ordering a set from Lincoln diesel tomorrow...just wanted to figure out the other problem first kinda. Im thinking its getting air in the system. if I prime it at the filter ehad shut off..... should it hold pressure for long? I can count to three,,,,, and its soft again.

Also I want to check the filter head..try a rebuild there, but I just put a new filkter a week ago. If im careful removing it and keep it upright, can I reuse it? Or will it cross contaminate when removed? I know its only a filter (62$ after taxes here at GM!!!!), buts its the fourth one in 10k miles. I suppose at this point if Im doing injectors anyway I have nothing to loose trying to figure out what else is wrong, in the fuel system I mean. Be a good time to change out all the rubber hoses, drop and clean the sock and tank, and last but definitely not least, a fass 150 setup in the loop

Something going on for sure...Also fyi... I put a new fpr on 5000 miles ago.Had the lope idle when I bought it

Buy a filter head rebuild kit from M.A. and put the injectors in it. Be carful not to break the seal on the cups. Replace every rubber line on the top of the motor and clean the hard lines to the injectors. Can't give up on her yet!! Lol. As long as you didn't spend a bunch of money on the initial purchase she still has plenty of life!! GL!!

Since you're doing injectors and all, I want to tentatively suggest you replace the CP3 as well. For the mileage you've got it might not be a bad idea, if I'm not mistaken, and I frequently am, the primer primes the cp3 as well doesn't it? So if your loosing prime isn't there a possibility that the cp3 has a bad seal or somethin somewhere???

I d make sure it's good before I buttoned everything up, I'd sure hate to go back a few months later to pull it out (or sooner)

Just a thought, I'm not sure it's even correct. Sounds like you're working with some good peeps tho

Good luck :D

Thank You for all the input. I was thinking the same thing. Got it going on a snap on scanner tonight to collect some data.Might just do it all. Lift pump. new cp3, new lines, new injectors.... and hell while the wallets open put a new turbo.... just because I know that this one has been torture tested pulling a jumbo load throught the rockies every yr since it was new...

Well wish me luck:)

If it had a seal issue on the cp3...... wouldn't it be makin oil??
