how many miles on the pump? you try to command full rail psi at idle and see what it reads?

Sounds like your injectors are either leaking or returning too much fuel. Is it smoking at idle?

cp3 is probably taking a poo. My went at 90k miles. x2 on logging rail pressure at idle. Go into the DVT screen and command 160mpa and see if it holds RP.

I have 194,000 on the truck i will try to log rail pres. and see if it hold. And also what should the stock turbo psi be at 1500 rpm mine only shows about 1.5 psi according efi. It does not smoke at idle at all just black smoke going up hills or giving it fuel taking off from a stop light or something like that.

turbo psi increases under load not just RPM. do you have a boost gauge. see if the turbo shaft has any end play in it if so it is on its way out.

I went out put des.rail pres. to 160mpa it went to 23206 but act. only says 5300 to 5600.

sounds like the pump has had it.

I really don't remember it looked like the old style. i just put a new fass150 with the two filter's and it didn't seem to make any difference in the way it ran at all. i am starting to get allot of rattle out of the engine here lately can the low fuel pressure cause the injectors to rattle?

i dont remember who makes it i got it from a tractor supply and put a 1 micron filter setup on it no problems yet i think it was a universal kit or something

thanks allot i guess i will put a new cp3 on it and hopefully that will take care of it.

did the new pump solve your problems? I’m now having very similar issues.I have tried a multitude of things but I’m narrowing it down to a new pump I think. Let me know. Thanks!

Its an 11-year old thread, and the o/p hasnt been on in 5 years. You wont get an answer about it.
No idea what you've tried, but if the injectors are ok (balance rates and return fuel quantity), then more than likely its the CP3 itself on its way out.
