fuel level sending unit

Ok so my fuel gauge started messing up today! I was on the way to work and it dropped to empty and the fuel light came on?! It has 3/4 tank in it. when I got off work and drove it around I noticed it would jump all over the place it would show 1/4 tank then empty 3/4 then empty.....etc, and just jump to different levels each time jumping down to empty. is this a common problem and what could be the problem?

I had the same problem. I had to replace the sending unit.

Check at O'reileys they are a lot cheaper there.

I have had the same problem for over a year. Anyone have a part # for the sending unit?

A lot of guys are useing a dorman part #911-005 You have to make a mount for it to work but they all say it works just fine and it`s about $30 I am going to use one as soon as I get the time as I`ve already bought the dorman sensor.
