so, about 500ish miles ago, i got a kit from merchant auto to rebuild the fuel filter head and adapt a cat filter to it, got it all back together, removed spring and check ball. got it all back installed. didn't have any issues.

since then i have added a fass adjustable lift pump, no filters, just lift pump. it has developed a leak, running down the filter. after a few days of cleaning and watching....it wont leak with just the lift pump running, it leaks after i drive it. but from what i can see is its leaking from the primer pump, coming out the bottom, i have the seals in correct, as the primer pump works, i would think it wouldn't work if i didn't.

so, i am looking for a fix for this, i have only came to 3 ideas on my own and would like to see what you guys think, i would like to keep the filter in the stock location if possible.

1. rebuild filter head....again and hope the seals hold, maybe the housing is worn out?

2. buy a new filter head and hope the seals hold?

3.this nicktane adapter looks like the solid choice to me, has a bleeder screw and takes the cat filter as well.

any other ideas? i have seen lots of people running the stock filter head with lift pumps, maybe i just got the short straw.

oh, other thing i am 1/2 worried about would be deleting the fuel heater, it gets pretty cold here, the truck is garaged but spends about 10-12 hours a day outside when im at work.

thanks

looking more at the nicktane alternate head, i would imagine most guys running twin turbo setups have to eliminate the whole filter head anyways, heater and all?

Thanks, i appreciate the offer, i may take you up on it...

Im just worried that even if i put another one on it, it will leak again.

But it sounds like yours isnt doing anything for your truck at the moment, any issues with having no fuel heater when its -30 -40F? I just dont know how big of a deal it is to run with out it in the cold, i think having a filter head with less places to leak would be the way to go?

Fair enough, ill just eliminate the stock one with the other one i was looking at, has a bleeder port and mounts in stock location.

Thanks for the help, probably a bit of a noob question, but i didnt know

figured i would post an update, i hate it when people dont post the end result of an issue.....

the filter head fits in place of the stock unit as advertised, HOWEVER, if you have stock location inter cooler pipe, have fun finding fittings to fit, regular straight barbs will not fit, and 1/2'' M X 1/2'' F street 90's are too big to thread both in. Got a very helpful guy at our local fitting place(took 3 times), hooked me up with some hydraulic swivel MxF 90 fittings, as pictured, everything is good to go, no more leak, and running the larger 0749 cat filter, still has bleeder on top, where i will eventually put the sensor for my fuel pressure gauge.

Ditch the stock filter head and run a different one. I bought this filter head from napa for $33 (actually ordered online but it's a Napa part number). I made the bracket...regular fass 150 with cat filter and it feeds 1115whp no problem.

Looks like you got it straightened out. I posted mine before reading the whole thread lol

I may do something similar to yours at a later date, i have the same fass pump as you do in that picture. Mines just mounted in a different location.

Is that the only filter you run on yours?
