Last several fill ups or top offs, my fuel guage has been between a quarter tank and E around 165-190 miles and the truck says around 13-14 gallons used, which has always been within two gallons.

Anyhow why is my fuel guage so far off? 13 gallon is only a half a tank, I know it has a reserve of 4-6 gallons but mine gives me a 10+ reserve.

My dually is like this but not that bad. Its says empty and takes 24 gallons. Like as if it is a short bed truck. I even swapped a junk yard sending unit in with no change. Re flashed the tune and double checked the tank size setting in the tune. No explanation from me...

I've never used pump fuel until the last month or so, so I never knew how many gallons was going into my tank, just thought it was really hard on fuel. I pulled my my fuel cell out for bed space or I wouldn't have noticed. I'm on Weight now at 210 miles and 16 gallons burned. I'm gonna just start going off milage on fill ups, wouldn't mind but I've been stopping at stores constantly thinking I needed fuel and I'm tired of stopping. That fuel cell spoiled me.

Gets a little annoying though, and not very confidence inspiring on way home around midnight or later yet with 14000 lb trailer on behind and wife and kids in cab with fuel light on for half of trip. I always chickened out but the stupid thing would only take 24-26 gallons every time.

I chicken out too, my truck idles long periods sometimes too so I get leary going off milage. Went 30 miles with the light on last night, took 17 gallon to fill it up to the top of the neck.

My LMM did that too. It was annoying...
Good to know, and yes it is very annoying. I think the fuel cell is going back in.

I pulled my sender and cleaned it with electrical contact cleaner and that helped it quit a bit. I think there was moisture on it affecting the signal sent to the tank.

I can try that, makes sense that it wasn't this bad until all the rain we've had lately. Its been an easy two years not working on it, I just replaced half the front end last week. Looks like its time to wipe the dust off my tools.
