I just bought my truck a couple of days before christmas and I have just taken it on my first little road trip. It was only about 150 miles but it was more than enough time for the engine and trans to get heated up. I saw the thermostat for the engine hit about 190 and then by the time I had hit 100 miles into the trip it had crept all the way back down to below 160, the trans stayed at a constant temp though. Then, on my way back home today I knew I was low on fuel but the light didn't come on and the range said 49 miles so I kept going and ran out of fuel :(. I think there must be something up with my cluster, everything else seems to work perfectly, its just those two gauges that are worrying me. Any ideas?

I've got a light out too, was going to pull the cluster and replace them with all LEDs, can I replace the stepper motors themselves or am I going to need a whole new cluster?

Ebay the stepper motors or go to GM and get the updated ones. If u can solder then u can replace them. Easy to do. Replace the bulbs why ur at it. You can watch YouTube videos of replacing the stepper motors if u need. You sure your thermostats are not bad? Confirm the engine temp with a live data.
