Fuel capacity

I've googled this subject many times and I haven't found anything solid to go off although I may have simply read over it. I see a lot of people have the issue only being able to put 18 gallons in a tank that's suppose to hold 26 gallon. My confusion is when people have this problem is the guage also saying it's empty or saying there's a quarter tank left? I'll run my after the low fuel light comes on and I will think it's gonna run out and it holds 18. Is my guage wrong or something wrong with my pick up?

Think of it as a reserve. It's a good indication to tell you to fill up before you actually run out of fuel. Mine comes on at 20 gal, it gives me an idea how much more I can drive to the next fuel station, especially when towing.

I had mine adjusted in my tunes to come on when I had about 3 gallons left. I would usually top off with 32 gallons

Not always, my truck should have the 26 gallon tan, I ran out of fuel and only put 24.5 i. This was like 10 miles after the light came on. That was before I put the sump in, maybe now I could run for a bit after the light comes on. I just learned to find the nearest gas station as soon a the like came on.

Mine comes on and by the time I get to fuel up, it's around 20 gallons. The lowest I ran it is when I went between 60-75 miles after light came on and filled up with a little under 23 gallons. In my owner's manual it says something along the lines of: "You still have fuel in the tank when the gauge is on E, but you should probably find a station soon."

Short bed: 26 gallons
Long bed: 36 gallons
