Hello all, my first post.. I have been a member at duramaxforum for quite a while now and just joined this sight.

I have a 2005 duramax LLY, I purchased a leveling kit, and tie rod sleeves. I want to install the level kit and lower my torsion bars, and install the sleeves. Now what else do I need to be safe when launching 4 hi? I don't plan on sled pulling. Should I get congito braces or a steering stabilizer bracket.

Thanks, Dylan

Yes that's what it is, it has front shock extenders and the torsion keys, then 2" blocks for the rear. Its the zone kit.

Throw the keys in the trash or ebay. They will do nothing for you other than make it a nightmare for you to launch your truck in 4wd. All they do is effectively make it like your bolts are always cranked. They're a bad idea, IMO. If you can't get enough lift out of just cranking the bolts, you should buy a lift kit.

Well shit... I bought the truck and the factory bolts are maxed out, and the tires rub a bit. So I thought by installing this level kit I could back the bolts out some and get a better ride and better angles.. But say the leveling kits on the truck, what would be more beneficial congnito braces or the steering stabilizer bracket?

Either way on the steering stuff would be fine. I have the Cognito braces on my truck. I installed one of Tony Burkhard's braces on a truck for a guy, and it seemed like a nice piece.

Just so we're clear, you will change nothing as far as angles or ride quality or anything by putting the keys in. That is all marketing. The shock extenders might help the ride, but that's about it.

edit: I'm not trying to discourage you from doing what you want. I'm just trying to warn you to let you know what you're getting yourself into. I've seen a lot of guys complaining about not being able to launch only to find out later that they have a set of lift keys installed. It is your truck, and you should do whatever you think is best. I just don't want you to do it for the wrong reasons.

Well my main reason for the level kit was to clear the tires better, and i plan to get 305/55/20 so i hope they clear. My future plans are a 6" lift of some sort with 20s and 35s. But thats after a tranny build and max effort tunes.

Also i just want to beable to launch when i have a dodge or ford pull up next to me and launch on me.

I run 305/50R20 tires, and my truck is lowered. Anyway, I hope it works out like you want.

Well if you want to lift the truck than you can forget about launching it in 4wd. I have a lift on mine and ive done everything to get it to launch and i still cant launch that well im taking my lift off and lowering it from the factory ride hight, jmo

Not true. If that were the case i wouldnt be doing 15psi boosted launches in my truck on the street. Something else in your setup is off.

Not saying that it cant be done but what real fast truck is lifted. Ive only seen one and he had huge slicks on the back and was launching in 2wd.

Ok but whats that got to do with being able to launch good with bigger tires like the op was asking? and there are a few of fast lifted trucks out there ;).
