Front end upgrades

What is the best front end upgrade out there for a daily driver, lookin at new arms and possibly bigger tierods. Not sure if i want a new centerlink as i have heard mixed reviews.
Let me know what your experience has been

Depends on what you want truck for daily driver only or track use? lots of guys run just moog tie rods with sleeves and moog idler/pitmans no need for centerlink until you start getting into boosted launches and such IMO Honestly just replace parts as they wear with quality pats and you won't have a problem.

If your wanting track use go for rare parts tie rods idler and pitman unless you have money to blow than go kryptonite


PS i have a used Pitman arm just took off truck if youre interested slight axial play

The best overall front and rear upgrade, swaybars front and rear, the stock 2001-2010 front swaybar is hollow. I have been reading some problems with Moog parts, as in made elsewhere, look into Mevotech made in Canada. Buyer beware as you never know what's in the box when purchasing online...

Also curious about the sway bar, mainly a dd but might do an occasional boost launch on the street

If your tie rods are not shot then just install sleeves and a Cognito brace kit. More than adequate for a few boosted launches. I have run braces and cognito, straight link with braces, and currently will be running the Full Kryptonite center and ends. It should be a nice compromise of the stock steering and a straight link steering, which didn't bother me to much but it does scrub the tires some at full lock.

Hows the tire wear compared to stock? With the kryptonite? What pitman arm and idler arm and adler support do you recommend

I ran cognito braces, bilstein stabalizer, and kryptonite sleeves for a while then switched to the full kryptonite tie rod centerlink combo. The straight centerlink made it launch MUCH better. I did lose some turning radius but it doesn't bother me. Well worth it. Can't say I've noticed any difference in tire wear.

Helwig works for most mine are Roadmaster 1-1/2" front and rear. One other suggestion pertaining to longevity is greasing them every 3,000 miles. Greasable joints were designed in time when 3,000 mile oil changes were the norm and you greased the front end at that time. With synthetics and oil changes being 7-10,000 miles nowadays your missing one shot of grease IMHO....

Does the present grease available fall into the same category as the current oil in longevity? What grease do you use for your front end & what oil in the engine?

He was saying most people service everything at once i.e. at oil change grease everything.. now that oil life has been extended most don't take into account that they should still grease everything at a shorter interval i would think extended grease life would be elected by the brand ant type of grease you use though :thumb:

so what kryptonite kit do you recommend for a mostly daily driver, also does see alot of gravel roads as well as pavement but no track use yet, and maybe an occasional boost launch

I agree with greasing every 3k as that's also when I rotate tires makes it easy to get to everything on the knuckle.

The way I drive... oil/filter, greasing and new tires once a year which is only 5k miles so i don't know, maybe I should grease it twice a year :roflmao:

For what it's worth though Moog is junk, I barely got 10k on my idler/pitman before they had play in them

I run 10k oil/grease interval no problems to speak of

Used to be a guy that made f/r sway bars that put hellwigg to shame 9 years ago can't remember his name

Are you thinking of Federico or something? Iirc it turned out that he was having hellwig make and ship them.
