ok i am installin my locker. now i have done this on a half ton before and from what i am seein there is a bit of difference. my install kit came with shims. however i dont see shims used in the stock setup besides for pinion . i am not changing the pinion just carrier bearings. how do you adjust carrier without shims to set backlash. unless they are behind the bearing races

i thought so about the spanner nuts because that is how the half tons are however i do not see the spanner nuts on this 9.25 unit which side are they on

Front Diff

The spanner nut is kinda hard to get to. You have to go down in to reach it and adjust the backlash. Its there just not real easy. Jeff

is it on short axle side or long axle also do you think there is anything wrong with putting new bearings on old races there is only sixty thousand miles on them

yeah everything looks good ihave not located the spanner nuts yet though for the backlash adjustment

I was taught to either replace the whole bearing or reuse the whole thing, never mix and match. Kind of like reusing a flat tapper cam, can't mix and match lifters.
