Friend in need -
Buddy and his wife had a baby girl (Mia) on 6 July 2012 in Terre Haute, IN. So far since an hour after her birth she has been air lifted to Rileys Children Hopital in INDY, in the NICU unit. She has been placed on ventilator, placed on an ECMO (bypass) machince, she has a central line (although taking that out today to place a PICC instead) she has a feeding tube, a chest tube (which is supposed to come out today) for a collapsed lung, two iv sites, she is recieving TPN (total parental nutrition since she cannot eat while on the vent) Morphine and Versed (to keep her calm) because when she gets upset that is when she "shunts" that is when her blood takes the path of least resistence and skips over her heart, so therefor her heart is not pumping out oxygenated blood to the rest of her body and organs.

I set up a paypal account if you guys care to donate: [email protected]

Thanks in advance

Bump...
Even 5 bucks a member, or multiply members family and friends, make a promise to "tell" 5 people to give you 5 bucks
Then you could donate 30
I will talk to my wife, she can/ will get thousands of people to see this in minutes
this family will need everything, as far as support goes, the costs go far beyond the hospital, emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually
no one likes/ wants to see this for a child, it is difficult beyond measure
One of my daughters is handicapped(search rett syndrome mecp2)...i speak with some experience

Thanks man I really appreciate the support with this. I will research that. The weird thing was this all developed an hour after birth and the last check up 2 days before birth was perfect

(Big exhale)........
Life, is just not always explainable, or "fair" fun or even satisfying sometimes
my daughters condition "happens" in forms of regression of ability, periodically without warning, without reason
We had all the prenatal tests, trimester tests all the way to the end everything was fine
My wifes pregnancy was / had complications, but summers(my daughter) health was never really a concern or issue
hope is really all a person has in times/situations like this, your spouse family money friends doctors radiothons, they are all great, but if they all were to leave, the only thing you better have is hope, hope hope hope
Or prayer, higher power whatever it is, you have your buddy dig in and hang on to it
You are a good freind sir, you may want to heed my advice too, if you plan to stay by your friend
mine chose to split, i dont blame them, cant say i waould do the same, but i dont blame them

I hear you there.. I almost lost my wife and my oldest girl during the birth.. her cord was too short and wrapped around her throat, had to do an emergency C-section. I'm in Kuwait at the moment so there is only so much i can do from here but my Wife has been over to Indy to see them and comfort them.

Sent a little bit that way, not much but I guess every little bit helps. How much insurance do they have? I hope it is covering at least the medical bills, but I know there is always so much more with missing work, all the driving etc

Thanks Andrew. The have some insurance but i dont think it will cover the airlift at all and my buddy has nowhere near the time off he will need and then the hour commute each way / hotel expenses, food, etc. Every little bit helps and I am going to match whatever is donated. My wife was over there visiting today and she was saying its been really rough for them.

Glad to hear!!!
Is there another venue we all can track her progress through?
My wife was hoping to be able to direct "traffic" through somewhere other than the forum.
She has alot of contacts

I'm only getting updates through my wife via a message on Facebook... I will send her a message and see if there is a different venue and will let everyone know once I hear back
